Following Jesus in a Fallen World

The world is shifting faster than ever. What used to change every few decades now seems to change every few months—morals, values, even truth itself. It can feel dizzying trying to keep your footing when everything around you is moving. But Daniel’s story reminds us that while culture shifts, God never does.
Daniel knew what it meant to live in a culture that tried to rewrite his identity, compromise his convictions, and test his faith. From the moment he was taken to Babylon, the pressure was on to conform—to think, speak, and act like everyone else. Yet Daniel quietly resolved in his heart that he would not be defiled (Daniel 1:8). He didn’t fight with fury or rebel in pride; he stood firm with integrity and trusted God with the results.
Years later, when a new decree threatened his very life, Daniel didn’t panic or hide. He simply opened his window toward Jerusalem and prayed—just as he always had. His consistency in private became his courage in public.
Today, you and I face our own Babylon moments. The world still tries to rename us, redefine truth, and reshape our faith. But like Daniel, we are called to remain faithful even when it costs us something.
When the culture around you shifts, don’t shift with it—anchor yourself to the God who never changes.
Faith that stands firm in private will shine bright in public. Resolve precedes rescue.
